PMA Friction Products began in a garage working with limited equipment to produce friction materials that went beyond the customers' needs and demands. Within a short period of time, PMA Friction Products’ customer base increased making this venture a full-time effort, which directly lead to the incorporation of PMA Friction Products in 1979. The company continued to grow, prompting a move into a facility with a staff of 3.

Within a couple of years, we outgrew the location and PMA obtained more units which gave us the ability and flexibility to increase our capacity and to look at other markets. With this success, there was a need for a full-time office and sales force as well as a production force that worked 2 shifts a day, five days a week. PMA continued to grow, which lead to the purchase of the current 60,000 square foot facility in Batavia, IL.

By keeping work in-house, we offer faster response times, minimize start-up costs, and provide more control of the entire manufacturing process resulting in a superior customized product. We increased our capabilities to conduct in-house testing which allows us the ability to take our customers' applications on a case-by-case basis and pre-screen friction material selections to help reduce our customer's R&D costs.

Additionally, we have a tool room, a chemical lab where samples are produced per customer's specifications, a quality lab for testing, and a first-class manufacturing facility.
