Students choosing the Mold Design path can attend this (4) Module, SELF PACED, Instructor-led, ONLINE course, using their own CAD software. (Software not included)

PRE-REQUISITE REQUIRED: CAD Skills Evaluation ($200.00) - Additional Cost

Instructor-Led Online
Time Commitment: 285 hours

Course Hours Breakdown
•    Online Training Hours = (20) Hours
•    Instructor Review/Feedback Hours = (20) Hours (via Webex)
•    Trainee/Student CAD Hours = (245 Hours) on (10) Application Projects.

Virtual Mold Design--Course Content, Modules 1.0-4.0

Module 1: Plastic Part Design Fundamentals and Product Development Basics. (6) Hours Online Training

Application Projects:

  • Design a Plastic Part for 3D Printing
  • Design a Plastic Part for Injection Molding

Module 2: The Injection Molding Machine, The Injection Molding Process, The Injection Mold.  (4) Hours Online Training

Application Project: 

  • Design a (1) Cavity Injection Mold

Module 3: Fundamentals of Designing and Manufacturing Injection Molds. (10) Hours Online Training

Application Projects:

  • Design a (2) Cavity, (2) Plate Injection Mold
  • Design a (2) Cavity, Three Plate Injection Mold
  • Design a (4) Cavity, Single Face, Cold Runner, Injection Mold
  • Design a (4) Cavity, Single Face, Hot Runner, Injection Mold

Module 4: Design and Manufacture of Production Injection Molds

Application Projects: Proven Designs

  • Design MUD Unit Production Molds
  • Design Class 102, Production Molds
  • Design Class 101, Production Molds, with Telescoping Shutoffs
  • Design Class 101, Production Molds, with Slides and Undercuts

Instructor Leads All Application Projects. (Acts as “The Customer”)
Leads Preliminary Design Reviews and provides “feedback” to the Trainee.
Approves Final Designs.  (provides “feedback”)

NOTE: Dates and times are subject to change; employers will be notified of any changes. Classes, workshops, or special events require a minimum number of registrants to run as scheduled. In the event of a cancellation, TMA will refund your fee IN FULL.

PAYMENT POLICY: Payment must be received in full to attend class.   


LATE REGISTRATION POLICY: All registrations made within five business days from the start of class will be assessed a $25 Late Registration Fee. 
  
CANCELLATION POLICY: All cancellations will be assessed a $25 Cancellation Fee. Companies will be charged IN FULL if cancellations are not received in writing by email (education@tmaillinois.org) or faxed (847-825-0041) by noon five business days before the start date of the class or workshop. No refunds will be provided after this time. If you do not cancel and do not attend, you are still responsible for payment.


ATTENDANCE POLICY: At the Technology & Manufacturing Association, we believe that for a student to reach their full educational achievement, attendance is essential. 
Students who exceed the maximum allowed number of absences per course will only receive a participation certificate at the end of such a course. A certificate of completion will only be given to the students who remain within the allowed number of days absent per course. The maximum allowed number of absences is as follows: 0 absences for courses consisting of 0-21 hours of class, one absence for courses of 22-50 hours of class, and two absences for courses of 51-84 hours of class.
