We were approached by a heavy equipment repair shop experiencing issues with their floor. Heavy equipment had caused damage to several areas, which was interfering with their daily operations. To address this, we resurfaced the concrete using a trowel-down method. We applied an epoxy matrix, consisting of washed and dried sand mixed with epoxy. An e-commerce company contacted us about ants emerging through cracks in the concrete floor of their lunchroom. We conducted a site visit to determine that their joint filler was missing and pulled away on many of their joints. The joint filler would need to be replaced to stop the ants from coming up through the joints.   We started the project by running a saw through the joints to remove the failing filler. Once removed, we squirted a two-component polyurea filler into the cleaned-out joints. They now have a tightly filled joint, which will not allow food crumbs to collect or ants to come up. A condo building contacted us to help repair the concrete in their parking garage. The drive aisles where their residents enter and exit became eroded over time due to daily traffic. They also had several drains that needed to be repaired due to water pooling issues. We started the process by chipping out the damaged concrete around the drains and scarifying the concrete in the drive aisles to prepare for resurfacing. We used an epoxy matrix to resurface the drive aisle and drains. After we resurfaced the concrete, we saw cut the control joints back into the floor and filled them with a two-component polyurea. We finished by applying a clear epoxy top coat with a non-slip finish for their resident’s safety. This parking garage now has efficient drains and a resurfaced drive aisle for daily traffic.

It is important to protect your concrete floors from acid damage. Battery acid and other corrosive materials can erode a concrete surface, resulting in substantial damage. We recommend coating a battery charging area with an acid-resistant epoxy to protect your concrete floors. An acid-resistant epoxy resists nearly any acid found within a production or chemical containment area. As a refresher, we worked for a metal fabricating company in 2012 to repair and install an epoxy coating in their aisles. Many changes have occurred over the past 11 years, so they wanted to redo their entire facility. The first couple of weekends, we worked on repairs throughout their facility. The middle weekends included recoating their aisles in grey epoxy and establishing eight more aisles in grey epoxy with a non-skid surface for employee safety. Lastly, This customer had specific needs for their line striping. Since not every aisle would lead you to a fire exit, we suggested painting one of the lines in the aisles red to indicate a path to an exit in case of an emergency. Next, we stenciled forklift warning signs in the walk aisles where forklifts crossed. Lastly, we painted a zig-zag pattern in their truck aisles to warn that forklifts and trucks used this aisle. Their facility is now visually appealing for customer tours and has well-defined aisles with safe traffic patterns for employees to travel throughout the warehouse. We recently completed a job for a food product supplier who was looking to get their SQF certification. An SQF certification showcases a certified commitment to a culture of food safety and operational excellence in food management. This customer is a manufacturer of pie, danish, and donut fillings, as well as dry mixes. Our main priority was to provide a durable kitchen floor that is up to SQF standards. To start, we prepped the floor by grinding to achieve a profile suitable for coating adhesion. We then filled the joints. Joint filling is usually required in food facilities to ensure bacteria won't grow between the concrete slabs. Lastly, the floor was primed, and a 100% solids epoxy coating with non-skid. This customer now has a durable kitchen floor and they received their SQF certification.
