Woodpeckers Inc using their Midaco Pallet Changer Rich Hummel started Woodpeckers Precision Woodworking Tools, located in Strongsville OH, in 1988 as a woodworking hobbyist. He initially outsourced their manufacturing to a small machine shop across the street from their facility, but that did not go as smoothly as Hummel would have liked. Out of frustration, he purchased his first VMC and learned how to run it. Over the years, he’s machined all his own parts and added more machinery as demand for his woodworking products dictated. “Before we had a {Midaco} pallet changer we had to run our large parts in 2 operations. This meant we had to run 2000 of op 1 and then change the machine over to op 2 and run them through again. Our floor became congested trying to keep this many large parts staged. Now that we installed a pallet changer, we are able to complete op 1 and 2 on each part, put them in a box and send out to finishing right away.
