    As active members and champions at YPO, Mark Herbick (YPO Heartland Gold and Southwest Florida), CEO & Founder of Pursant and Tom Wiers (YPO Indiana Gold), CEO & Owner of Wiers recently paired up to host the fourth annual YPO Deal Network: Acquisition Playbook event April 16-18, 2024.    Over 70 YPO members attended the multi-day event to network and learn from Tom, Mark and a number of other expert M&A resources. Some of the topics included:   - State of Middle Market M&A: Comprehensive overview of the current landscape, trends, and opportunities in the middle-market - M&A 101 Terms and the Acquisition Playbook Process: Key terms and fundamentals of M&A; knowledge needed to navigate the deal process - Preparing Your Organization to Make Acquisitions: Essential strategies for positioning an organization and its team to successfully execute acquisitions - Generating Deal Flow: Effective techniques for sourcing and evaluating potential deals - Due Diligence: Best practices for analyzing and assessing risks and opportunities before closing the deal - Deal Negotiation: The art of negotiating M&A deals, taught by Nour Kteily, Professor at Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management   Through attendees’ feedback, the successful event earned a high rating of 4.85 / 5.00, a proud moment for Mark and Tom. They are both looking forward to pairing up again for the 2025 event!     Thank you Association for Corporate Growth (ACG) for organizing another successful DealMAX event in Las Vegas this week! It was an exciting three days for Scott Glickson and Grace Lau, as they met with old friends and many new connections over 1:1 meetings, networking cocktail receptions and dinners. Lots of great conversations on potential collaboration opportunities and we can’t wait to continue those conversations. Now the real works starts!

    It was a pleasure for Pursant to sponsor a wine tasting reception at the Building Service Contractors Association International (BSCAI) Executive Management Conference in Orlando on April 25, 2024! We featured a special selection from Betz Family Winery, a family-owned winery with award winning wines in Washington. They showcased their limited production of 2021 Heart of the Hill, Cabernet Sauvignon and 2021 La Cote Patriache, Syrah. Both with a Barrel Score of 97-99 pts from Robert Parker and Jen Dunnuck. It was great to catch-up with over 70 BSC business owners over a glass of wine!

There are two common mistakes business owners make that can cost them millions in an eventual liquidity event and also derail their lives afterwards: focusing singularly on growth and profits instead of building enterprise value and neglecting to have an exit strategy that includes a post-transaction plan for their new life. During this session, he will discuss how to develop an exit strategy that focuses you on the best practices for growing and capturing the maximum value of what may be your most valuable asset: your company and also help you successfully transition to your life post-transaction with a new perspective, focus and passions after living a life where for so long, your business was your identity.
