T&H Lemont recently shipped a pair of custom weldboxes to a tube producer known for its mechanical and structural tubing. T&H Lemont's engineering team started with a standard chuck-style weldbox, then modified both units. The modifications were necessary so the units could be installed onto other manufacturers' mills.   If you have questions about new components to fit other manufacturers' mills, T&H Lemont has the answers. T&H Lemont recently shipped a pair of motorized seam orientation stands (SOS), model 280/6, to an international tube producer and fabricator. Model 280/6 is designed to work on tube in diameters from 0.750 to 3.500 in. and wall thicknesses from 0.028 to 0.250 in. SOS units compensate for drift in the weld seam’s location. Using two vertical rolls that are adjusted by the operator, the SOS aligns the seam at a specified location on the circumference, usually top dead center, to align the weld seam with inductors used for inline annealing, the sensors used for nondestructive testing, or other applications. It also assists in maintaining the tube’s straightness and in complying with any customer requests for a specific seam location. T&H Lemont manufactures manual and motorized SOS units. The manual version requires stopping the mill to adjust the seam location, which can be a trial-and-error process. When using the motorized version, the operator adjusts the seam location on the fly. The company manufactures SOS units that handle tube and pipe from 0.750 to 14 inches OD. T&H Lemont will be closed for business on Friday, March 29th, in observance of Good Friday. T&H Lemont will resume normal business hours on Monday, April 1.

T&H Lemont recently shipped a pair of tube mills, model WU11-13, to a longstanding East Coast tube producer. The order also included spare rafted stands and tooling sets. With the addition of this pair of mills, the customer has a total of five T&H Lemont mills. T&H Lemont’s model WU11-13 mill is a complete TIG system that can make nonferrous tube in diameters from 0.150 to 0.750 inch and wall thicknesses from 0.010 to 0.050 inch. This specific order reflects the versatility in how T&H Lemont designs and builds its products. While T&H Lemont usually ships entire production lines, in this particular case, the mill was built to accommodate customer-supplied components for entry, welding, and cutoff. Furthermore, while the model number indicates 13 forming stands, this mill includes a 14th gearbox for future expansion.

T&H Lemont announces that it has hired a new sales engineer, Latoya Hill. In this role, Hill will be responsible for sales of mills, components, tooling, and consumables. Hill has held a variety of customer-service-related positions, including a stint with Main Steel LLC, a specialty processor and polisher of stainless steel, aluminum, and high-nickel-alloy products.
